Landscapes at low light

It doesn't matter what the landscape looks like during the day, at early evening time I think they always look their best.

RAF Upwood

RAF Upwood is a disused air base that's been left to fall apart since the second world war. There are so many buildings that we couldn't walk around all of them before it got dark. Many buildings have been set on fire at some point and the rest are covered head to toe in graffiti. The only way to access the area is through holes in the surrounding fences but people do go there daily.

There's even two tanks that you can look in, spin the main gun round and climb all over!

Here's a few photos I took. You can see more on the RAF Upwood page.

Out and about

I went for a short walk around the town of Deeping St.James near Peterborough and got a few shots that I really like. What I find is when you say to someone that you took 200 shots but have ended up with 5 good ones they think well what's the point? or you're obviously not very good at it. I may not be fantastic at it at the moment but as long as I get 1 shot that I love I will never consider it a waste of time or ever entertain the thought of giving up.
Reflections are something that I'd like to focus on more in the future.

Close up and vivid.

My camera has a 'vivid' setting which I've been using today to make the most of the Autumn colours. You can get the same effect from editing the image afterwards but this just saves you the time.
I'm not sure if this image has got to much green. Does it need cropping again?

These are my favourite images. Cherry Hill Park, Ely.

This photo has had no editing, all I did was take it using the vivid setting. Cherry Hill Park, Ely.

This little guy was having a snack in my back garden.

And so it begins..

Hi there!

My names Jess, nice to meet you.

I'm new to blogging but I do have a small amount of experience with photography.

I studied photography and digital art while I was at college but that was a good few years ago now.

My partner and I have recently bought ourselves new cameras (mine being the Canon PowerShot SX530 HS). We spend so much time working and do very little on our days off together so we started to look for a hobbie that we could do together. It needed to be relatively cheap and something that would encourage our creative side.

Bingo! Photography.

I've taken my camera for its first spin and got a few good shots (7 out of 162! I'm obviously rustier than I thought.)

Here are a few of my favourites.
